WP4. Development of a sensor's testing platform based on cell culturing and microfluidic technologies.

Recruiting institution: 4Dcell SAS

Location: Montreuil, Paris, France

Supervisors: Patricia Davidson (4DCell), Thomas Voets (VIB-KULeuven)

Project description:

The main objective of this consortium is to develop an in vivo biosensor. The Early Stage Researcher will develop a microfluidic platform that will mimic in vivo conditions to test the behaviour of the sensor. This will allow us to identify issues with the sensor prior to in vivo testing.

As an industrial PhD, the student will gain valuable knowledge in the functioning of a startup company.

Secondments:

  1. VIB-KU Leuven (Belgium). Thermodynamic analysis of temperature sensitivity of ion channels.

  1. University of Warsaw (Poland). Nanomechanical analysis of planar lipid bilayers on sensors.

PhD awarding entity: KU Leuven (Belgium)

Qualifications: Master degree in Engineering or Science, with a specialisation in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, or any related subject.

Skills: Knowledge in cell culture, microfluidics, and biological sensors would be appreciated.

Experience: Prior experience performing benchwork in a research setting is necessary.

Other benefits: Payment of 50% of public transportation.

Expected start day: November, 2021
